Nov, 2001 : Worldport Hires Former Exodus Communications Exec

📅 November 8, 2001 - Web hosting firm Worldport Communications (wrdp.com) said today it had appointed former Exodus Communications executive Darren Metherell to head its new business sales channel in the UK.

Metherell, who has over six years of sales experience in the Internet industry, becomes Worldport's new sales manager.
Meterell was previously sales director at Exodus, which recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. At Exodus, Metherell led the company's regional sales efforts, focusing on firms that specialized in retail and financial services. Prior to joining Exodus, Metherell was sales manager for Global Center, the Web hosting arm of telecommunications firm Global Crossing.
"Darren's unparalleled experience and expertise in the Web hosting market and unique vertical expertise in the finance and retail sectors is a tremendous asset, and will help us in driving forward our aggressive European sales strategy," said Kathleen Cote, chief executive officer for Worldport.
Worldport, which maintains data centers throughout Europe, provides managed hosting services to European businesses.
"The Web hosting and managed services industry is undergoing tremendous change in Europe, yet there is significant growth potential, making this an exciting time to join Worldport," Metherell said.
