Towers Perrin To Use IBM Online Procurement Utility Robert B. Marks
📅 - IBM (ibm.com) announced today that Towers Perrin (towersperrin.com), a major management and human resource consulting firm with offices in 23 countries, would be using their Quick Start e-procurement service to automate corporate purchasing operations over the Internet. The new agreement between Towers Perrin and IBM will securely connect the HR giant to an online global network of over 30,000 suppliers.
Quick Start is a procurement system designed to help companies conduct business-to-business transactions over the Internet. A combination of the Arbita Buyer software and IBM Global Services' hosting management expertise, it obtains information and issues purchase orders, along with taking care of order updates and settling payment electronically.
The solution IBM has sold to Towers Perrin includes IBM DB2 Universal Database software running on IBM eServer xSeries systems in an IBM hosted environment. The Quick Start portion uses Tivoli Storage Manager 4.2 for backing up customer business data.
"The IBM-hosted Quick Start service offers flexibility, security and support for our fast-growing procurement needs," said John Hays, Towers Perrin's Director of Global Sourcing and Procurement. "We gained speed and efficiencies from IBM Global Services management expertise and Quick Start's easy pay-as-you-go pricing."
