Sprint Welcomes Yahoo! to Silicon Valley Internet Data Center

📅 January 9, 2002 - Sprint announced today that Yahoo! Inc., the Web's first online navigational guide, has selected Sprint E|Solutions as its newest provider of hosting services. Yahoo! (yahoo.com) will use the Sprint E|Solutions' Silicon Valley Internet Center in Northern California for its newest deployment of hosting requirements.

Headquartered in Sunnyvale, Calif., Yahoo! Inc. is a global Internet communications, commerce and media company that offers a comprehensive branded network of services to more than 218 million individuals each month worldwide. Reaching the largest audience globally, Yahoo! also provides online enterprise solutions designed to enhance the productivity and Web presence of Yahoo!'s clients.
"Sprint E|Solutions provides an Internet Data Center infrastructure, power scalability, and direct Tier 1 IP backbone connectivity on a highly reliable network that Yahoo! needs to support our growth into the future," said Kevin Timmons, Director of Operations, Yahoo! Inc.
The Silicon Valley Internet Data Center, one of a network of 10 U.S. facilities, offers Sprint customers application and Web hosting support, collocation, monitoring and reporting performance, and IT consulting services. Sprint E|Solutions also provides managed services for customers, including Business Continuity Planning, security, and Mobile Computing Solutions.
All of Sprint E|Solutions' Internet Centers sit directly on Sprint's fiber-optic Tier 1 IP backbone, enabling performance with reliability needed for mission-critical applications. In addition, Sprint's support provides a variety of managed server applications and transport services, all backed by quality customer service.

📅 Feb 19, 2009 - 1and1 Fourth Largest US Web Host - Web hosting company 1&1 Internet (1and1.com) announced on Thursday it has surpassed competitor Yahoo (yahoo.com) to become the fourth largest US web host based on WebHosting.Info's (www.webhosting.info) domain rankings.

1&1 has grown considerably since it launched its US operations about five years ago with over 700,000 US customers to date.

According to WebHosting.Info's research, 1&1 currently has 3.7098 percent of the domain market share with 2,491,508 domains.
