👈 Official Responses: 0) announced on Wednesday that it has been chosen to receive the Market Engineering Award for Customer Service Innovation from strategic consulting and training company Frost & Sullivan.
The award, says Rackspace, is given each year to the company that has demonstrated excellence in customer service innovation within their industry. One of the criteria identified by Frost & Sullivan was ?imitation by competitors,? referring to Rackspace's customer portal, which it called an example of customer service innovation in Web hosting that has benefited the entire industry.
"While researching the US Web hosting market, one of the things that struck me was the respect Rackspace had from its competitors," says Jarad Carlton, analyst for Frost & Sullivan. "It is one thing to claim that you have great customer service in the SME hosting market, but hearing that from direct competitors puts the claim into an entirely different light. I believe that the Rackspace reputation for good customer service is a very important factor to its continued success in the hosting market."
Frost & Sullivan's analyst team tracked customer service innovation and system implementation in the industry through interviews with market participants, extensive secondary research and customer surveys. To determine the recipient of the award, competitors were compared and ranked for relative position.
"Rackspace's commitment to service is our top priority," says Graham Weston, Rackspace chief executive officer and co-chairman. "All calls to Rackspace are answered by a live person, technical support experts are on standby 24/7 and every customer is assigned a dedicated account manager and Fanatical Support team for the duration of their relationship with Rackspace. The Frost & Sullivan award is recognition of the customer service excellence we strive for every single day and we are honored to have received this distinction."
Rackspace says that with more staff devoted entirely to customer service than to any other function, the company's brand of support also helped earn it a place as the only managed hosting company in Computerworld's 100 Emerging Companies to Watch in 2002.
