May, 2002 : Corio Deploys Oracle 11i for Ingersoll-Rand

📅 May 2, 2002 - Enterprise Application Service Provider Corio (corio.com) yesterday announced the completion of the Oracle 11i deployment for customer Ingersoll-Rand, a major industrial manufacturing firm.

Corio said the project, which was part of an expanding IT alliance between the two companies, saw Corio and IR teams work closely together to upgrade Oracle Financials, human resources and procurement applications. Oracle 11i is the latest version of the company's popular Web-enabled business management software suite.
"The collaboration between Corio and our internal team exemplifies the successful IT strategic alliance that we strive for at Ingersoll-Rand," said Steve Carrington, VP of Technology Services of Ingersoll-Rand. "We achieved impressive results - an Oracle upgrade and deployment in less than 100 days. Given this success, we expect to break-even on our investment in the first year and achieve a significant cost savings over the life of the contract."
Based in San Carlos, California, Corio delivers enterprise-level applications over a secure network for a fixed fee. The company deploys and manages applications from a number of leading software vendors, including PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP and Siebel Systems.

📅 May 1, 2002 - Inflow to Cut Staff, Data Centers - Denver-based Web hosting firm Inflow (inflow.com) said today it would reduce its workforce and either close or sell a number of its data centers in order to become EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest and Taxes Depreciation Adjusted) positive by the second quarter of 2002. Inflow said it plans to "phase out" its operations in Irvine and Sacramento, California, and said it would reduce its corporate and non-essential field support staff. 📅 May 1, 2002 - KPNQwest Big Factor in Qwest's $698 Million Loss - Telecommunication carrier Qwest (Qwest.com -> lumen.com) posted a wider that expected loss for this first-quarter of 2002 yesterday, with revenues dropping 13.5 per cent to $4.37 billion. The company lost 42 cents per share, or $698 million, for the three months ended March 31, compared with a net loss of $46 million, or 3 cents per share, in the first quarter of 2001. Thomson Financial/First Call's analyst estimate called for a loss of 4 cents a share. IBM says an eight-way IBM eServer p660 set a new record for midrange systems, defined as two eight-way servers with an average selling price of between $25,000 and $250,000, achieving 93,272 operations per second and defeating an eight-way HP rp7410 by nine percent.
