May, 2002 : Rackspace Europe Expands Web Hosting Capacity
📅 - Rackspace Managed Hosting (Rackspace.co.uk -> rackspace.com) said today that revenues from its operations in Europe grew by 34% during the first quarter of 2002, and that it would expand its European operations as a result.
To support its growth, Rackspace said it had extended its contract with IXEurope, which has provided Rackspace with neutral co-location facilities since August 2001, to increase its UK data center capacity to 2500 servers.
During the past quarter alone, Rackspace said it added 100 customers in Europe.
"Our recent growth has led to us expanding our data centre, which is provided by IXEurope because it offers a state of the art facility with the highest quality security at a very competitive price," said Dominic Monkhouse, Rackspace's Managing Director in Europe. "We now have the capacity to manage 2500 servers in Europe, which we are confident we will fill quickly. Other services we have added include deploying a Gigabit Ethernet backbone which allows all of our customers 100Mb Internet uplinks and extending the multi-homed network platform which guarantees 99.999% network uptime."
Founded in 1998 with locations in San Antonio, Texas and London, the company manages over 5,000 servers for customers in more than 80 countries.
