Sep 26, 2002 : Genuity Rated First in ISP Survey

📅 September 26, 2002 - Enterprise IP networking service provider Genuity Inc. (genuity.com) said on Wednesday that it has been named the top Internet service provider by Network Magazine readers in the publication's annual North American ISP Survey.

In addition to rating first overall in the survey, says Genuity, the company also outperformed its competition in the individual categories of reliability, performance and customer support.
The survey received about 3,000 responses from network managers around the country, determining the best performing ISPs by rating more than a dozen leading service providers in seven key service categories. Along with rating the individual ISPs, the survey also concluded that a company's reliability is the most important factor to customers in today's environment.
"Genuity's ranking as the number one ISP in the Network Magazine survey is a distinct honor, and further validation of our unwavering commitment and dedication to customer service and to providing industry-leading services," said Joe Farina, president and chief operating officer at Genuity. "We are extremely pleased and encouraged that our customers participated in this survey on their own and were able to provide real-life examples of the type of high-quality services and support we provide to our customers."

📅 Sep 27, 2002 - Ex WorldCom Executive Pleads Guilty to Fraud - The Securities and Exchange Commission reportedly filed a civil suit against former WorldCom controller David Myers, alleging that he broke securities laws when he participated in the bankrupt telecom's $7 billion accounting fraud. The suit was filed on the same day Myers pleaded guilty to three fraud charges after a three-month investigation by the US Department of Justice into his role in the WorldCom fraud.
