👈 Official Responses: 0) announced on Tuesday that it had won Frost and Sullivan's (frost.com) Competitive Strategy Award for 2003. The annual award is given to the company whose competitive strategy yields the most significant gains in market share.
According to Frost and Sullivan, Rackspace has managed to carve out a specialized niche for itself in the European managed hosting market space by focusing squarely on the small and medium-sized enterprise market. "In an arena in which small to medium sized enterprises are often neglected as larger Web hosting companies focus on obtaining the large corporate deals, Rackspace's emphatic customer focus and channel partnerships have created an opportunity to tap into the potential of a sizeable infant market,? said Brett Gascoine, European Awards Manager at Frost & Sullivan.
In order to select a winner, Frost and Sullivan undertook interviews with industry experts, participants and end-users as well as extensive secondary research. In the end, Rackspace's dedication to customer service helped it lock up this year's award. ?Rackspace has a long-term reputation in Internet hosting with technical support staff who go that extra mile to serve customers," explained Dominic Monkhouse, Managing Director, Rackspace Managed Hosting Europe. "We're 100 percent human, 100 percent of the time. We have no automated telephone systems; all calls are answered 24/7 by a person who is qualified to deal with enquiries. Rackspace is dedicated to excellent customer service and our customers really feel that's what they get."
