I have been with netfirms since 1998. The problem with netfirms is that they used to be good and cared about cutomers concerns.. Now that they have quite too many hostings..they are arrogant. Pompous and self assuming. Their attidude is that we dont care about you. After all we netfirms are one of the largest hosts and we can do without your business. I tried to get netfirms to install PHP Zend. They were really arrogant and told me that if php zend was that needed and they dont have it, how come they are still one of the largest hosting companies without it.
You also have to watch and make sure you check out nefirms billing. They have a negative billing system. That is they will automatically charge your credit card and renew your domain to the next upgraded hosting plan without your approval. They have a very shady billing system. If they fail to renew your domain automatically, They will send you an email. But what happens is that after you renew it Manually ...they enter your credit card information in their system and the system will bill you again without sending you a reciept since the manual renewal has sent you a reciept. Now try getting them to return your money...I had to send copies of my visa statement twice. So what they did was instead of returning my money they gave me another year of hosting. Guess what after the first year expired I thought I had two years...untill I got an email that the domain was expiring. On calling them They said that they were not aware and they wanted me to bring documented proof. That the previous year I had paid for two domains and your system had indicated that too. So what happened?I called my Crdeit company got visa statement sent it to them And yes you guess it. Instead of refunding my money they wanted to give me a year of hosting. I dealt with some prick manager named stewart, who seems trained not to pay back but tell you crap. I since changed my host to some one else. And you guess it again...on trying to transfer my domain, they clamed that I could transfer the domain from my user panel. But they never had the link to DNS management on the domain mange panel. It took 5 days for me to transfer my domain after I had to call them and have them do it manually. There customer service reppresentatives are very rude..they argue with customers. It appears this stewart guy is also a trainee manager...The customer service will always try talk to you as if it is you who is on the wrong and netfirms can not make mistakes.. Well to say the list I am now with a smaller hosting company that still wants and appreciates mu business.
