When we started service with Maia we were very impressed. Excellent Customer service and assistance with anything we needed.
After several months things began to change. The "24 hour" support is manned by someone that it wakes them up to call at night. Then they changed the ticketing support system with no notice, so tickets were ignored. When We gave up waiting and went to sales about it we were told very rudely that we should not use the system we always sued before. Then they claimed our site was hacked, though we had no sign of it. Then they shut down many of our forum features from working with no warning or notification before or after. When I asked about it they claimed they didn't change anything at all. After several weeks of trying to find out what they changed, and hiring a php expert to comb our site for what sort of error could have happened (and what the supposed hacker could have done) he determined there were NO PROBLEMS with our site. When we talked to Maia about this, they threatened to sue us for breaking their whole server. Our site is small and had way less traffic than it did when we first started with Maia... yet suddenly they claim it was so big to break the server completely.
We moved hosts, the new host checked our site thoroughly and found no signs of any malicious code either and took our site with all options enabled. In the months since we moved, there have been zero hacking attempts or problems. Our site doesn't get that much traffic - Maias claim that our small forums broke their servers is laughable. There no way a little forum with 300 registered users and only about 25 that login regularly broke anything at all unless Maia is completely incompetent at running a webhost.
Their answers to the reviews here are that people shouldn't be trying to host on shared servers... there is no need for a site like mine to be on dedicated hosting. Maias constant hacker attempts are either imaginary or a result of their own incompetence. They oversell to the nth degree and cant handle the customers they get. IF people are in the limits of their plan then it doesn't matter if they can "host 20" other people. they should give what they offer and shut up about could haves.

Hi Carla,
I'm so sorry for what happened! I remember that at the time we had serious issues with your website. Your forum managed to overload our server with no apparent reason. Some processes were taking seconds at up to 60% process CPU shares. I suppose there was some software server requirements incompatibility with your forum software or some of its plug-ins.
You were one of my favorite clients and I love the hourly chats we had over the live chat. I know how much you love your forum and you are really angry at me for asking you to move to VPS or close the account.
