We recently aquired some domains that were hosted with innter.net. I can honestly say I've never dealt with a worse company.
To start with, I received some bills through that totalled up to about 300EUR, I can understand that some international domains can be expensive so I put up with that and paid it. The invoices kept coming though will bills to be paid that were 60EUR for random 'Domain Service' etc.
I queried the account and ended up getting a charge for 25 euros getting added to my account for them to send me a postal statement. An email would have been sufficient!
I then got another bill through:
Business Startup biz531 setup - 1 x 0.00 € = 0.00 €
Business Startup biz531 service - 6 months x 9.99 € = 59.94 €
Setup of domain service for MYDOMAIN-alt.fr - 1 x 0.00 € = 0.00 €
Domain service for MYDOMAIN-ALT.fr - 12 months x 3.00 € = 36.00 €
Setup of domain service for skycandle-alt.ie - 1 x 0.00 € = 0.00 €
Domain service for MYDOMAIN-ALT.ie - 12 months x 7.50 € = 90.00 €
Delivery by postal mail incl. 15 min. labour time - 1 x 25.00 € = 25.00 €
Extraordinary contract termination incl. 75 min. labour time - 1 x 149.00 € = 149.00 €
Temporary account deactivation incl. 15 min. labour time - 1 x 29.00 € = 29.00 €
6 months Webserver Business Startup - 1 x 59.94 € = 59.94 €
Total to be paid: 448.88 €
I was absolutely astonished I was being charged this, as far as I could see, my account was up to date. However, I apparently had a second account with other domains on that were similar (they had -alt added in them!?!?). I didn't even know this account existed. When I queried this, I got a response that told me.. 'don't play like you do not know anything'... I genuinely had no idea of the account.
I was then told if I didn't pay within 48hours, they would suspend my other account too. I can't actually pay the 500ish Euros anyway because I can't login to my account because I don't know if it even exists!!
The second account apparently had the following domains in:
""-alt" is added for development accounts or if more than one account with the same domainservices is ordered.
therefore the invoice for domainservice contains "-alt" at placeholder to clearly separate them and avoid confusions."
Maybe it's just me, but that confuses me?!? I'm a website developer anyway, so I shouldn't get confused by that type of thing.
After arguing all day, I was then told that I hadn't co-operated, so they were cancelling some of my other services and wanted loads of paperwork off me regarding a French domain we own. They're just trying to be awkward really.
I asked them to provide me with the code that would allow me to transfer the other domain and I was told I would have to cancel first. I tried to cancel the account and got the following email:
1) this form can not be used since you did not specify the correct domain names.
2) you do not need to cancel your account any more since this contract is already terminated extraordinarily
3) .fr can not be cancelled or transferred since you are
a) not the holder of this domain name since you use proxy service.
b) a holder change must be initiated and completet prior to an cancellation and transfer
c) ALL outstanding fees must be paid before any new orders for an holder change will be accepted.
d) you must meet the given timeline until tomorrow to present the requested data
Another invoice was then added to my account for domain service at 60Euros. I was then told I wasn't the account holder of the .fr domain (even though I am) and was told that they wanted to cancel the contract with me after I've paid?!?!
This company is hopeless. I've used many domain registrars and own about 65 domains. Never in my life have I had ANY problems. Use someone like Godaddy.com, they're much better.
Never ever ever touch Innter.net. They'll just overcharge and turn your site off if you don't pay.
This problem hasn't been resolved yet, I'm hoping that everything will be sorted tomorrow.... however, I doubt it very much!
