Terrible and getting worse
I had two websites hosted at GKG. One was personal and the other was for a customer of mine. The customer decided to take ownership of his site. He called GKG and they gave him ownership of BOTH sites... no permission required from me for either site!! What kind of security is this? There are probably legal issues involved here, but I did not pursue them. Instead, I called to get my site back and, you guessed it, I had to jump through hoops to prove I was the real owner.
If you have their cheapest hosting plan, you can no longer FTP to and from their server, as you previously could. You have to use their file manager... what a pain. This is a recent change... I assume it's to get you to upgrade to a more expensive plan.
Oh yes... their support sucks too. I called on a Friday night and was told to leave a message and they would get back to me. They did... 12 hours later. Good thing it wasn't an urgent problem.
Lastly, there are bugs on their site. Logging in to your account ALWAYS says you have given the wrong password. If you ask for a password reset, respond to the resulting email, and set the new password equal to the old, you get logged in. Until the next time, that is!!!
