Since 1999 I have been hosting websites. I was with Webstrike when they were babies. Never was I disappointed with their support. They did screw up a couple of times but they knew their stuff and they were quick and witty.

With Easy CGI, my world went upside down. I am hosting 12 websites with them and 4 of them are database driven. I started growing an ulcer from the day Webstrike was bought. After the merge, they planned to roll out some kind of automated transfer and for sure it crapped each and every one of my sites.

We spent days fixing the scripts, begging them to haul their asses to install all the missing Perl and PHP components for our scripts to work. When everything was finally working fine, not 1 but 2 TIMES they uninstalled a Perl module that was required for our scripts to work. Not 1 but 2 TIMES it took them about a week to re-install it.

They changed our scripts without any authorization and stated that is was part of an phantom agreement that we were not even a bit aware of...

They billed my credit card (that issued is still not resolved yet) 3 times instead of 1 for a 3 yr domain registration.

One day, all the blogs and the forums stopped working because some kind of monkey uninstalled the MySQL (!!) PHP extension.

As of now, all mailservers are down. It has been like that since 3:00pm and it is now 10:30pm.

I think there is material for a class suit action and I would be delighted to be part of it. They state "carrier class hosting" with "99.9% up-time"... Let's do the math: 99.9% up-time is less than 0.1% down time. In one year, less than 0.1% means less than 8.76 hours. They are already misleading and misrepresenting themselves. What they really are is a real cheap hosting service with real cheap everything that goes with it.

We always have to prove that a problem is on their side and a direct effect of their screwing up. In other words, we do all the troubleshooting for them because they are so clueless. Even when it is all chewed up for them, they take forever to resolve an issue like "domain name does not resolve to the right IP address"

I cannot spill my guts without a word about their customer support. I am afraid though, I will go over the MaxChar allowed in the review field. First of all, their support is less than no support at all. Because they are so stupid and because they always start with this incredibly just as stupid "Dear Reseller, Thank you for getting in touch with us. I understand how sensitive this information is... yatta-yatta-yatta...." they right away increase your blood pressure by a good 20%.

They are paid to apologize and ask you if your computer is turned on. Then, they "escalate" the problem to the next level of incompetency. They never try to fix it. Their available bandwidth to help you is probably less than what you have at home and their computer is most likely slower than your kids'. One time I ditched the ticket system and called the support line because one of my customer could not access his Webmail and it was urgent. I was in my car using my iPhone. When I realized that the support guy was actually logging on to my control panel TO WRITE A TICKET, I used my iPhone (on a G3 network imagine) to do the same thing and my ticket was created before he could even log in.

Man did I write tickets. I gotta go to bed. Bye.
