Oct, 2003 : SnapGear Releases Central Management System

theplanet.com logo📅 - SnapGear (snapgear.com), an Internet security solution provider, released a new central management system (CMS) for its security appliances this week that allows network administrators to configure, control, monitor and apply security upgrade patches to Internet security devices such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems and VPNs.

The Utah-based company said its new CMS software helps businesses reduce overhead, improve security and simplify management. The console, according to SnapGear, provides a single point of administration and analysis for alerts, tracking of security incidents and security policies, in addition to automatic monitoring of security devices.
"Internet hosting providers need to manage thousands of secure Internet connections cost effectively," said Rick Stevenson, CEO of SnapGear. "Our CMS system brings down the cost of advanced security services available to users of our appliance security solutions."
SnapGear's CMS is certified to run on RedHat Linux, Debian Linux, Microsoft Windows 2000 Server and Windows XP. The company said it expects CMS to run on any platform that supports the Java Runtime Engine 1.4 such as other Linux distributions, Windows, and UNIX platforms.
Pricing for CMS, available immediately through SnapGear resellers, starts at $750 for up to 25 users or $2,999 for unlimited users.
