Oct 27, 2003 : TELEHOUSE Adds European Carrier to IDC
📅 - Colocation provider TELEHOUSE America (telehouse.com) said today it has added European telecom network provider Interoute (interoute.com -> gtt.net) as a member of the TELEHOUSE New York International Internet Exchange (NYIIX). The company said joining the NYIIX was the best way to bring European content cost-efficiently to North American Internet service providers.
"The millions of email messages, Web pages and e-commerce transactions that flow across the NYIIX each day demonstrate the importance of a reliable and well connected infrastructure," said Hideki Akazawa, president and chief executive officer of TELEHOUSE America. "60 Hudson is our first expansion site for the NYIIX, and adding Interoute, Europe's fastest growing telecom provider, is further evidence that network service providers have a growing need for reliable infrastructure."
According to TELEHOUSE, Interoute's combined network assets represent one of the largest and most advanced voice and data networks in Europe.
"Working with TELEHOUSE and utilizing the NYIIX gives us access to the important U.S. market and provides a cost-effective means of delivering content wherever necessary,? said Matthew Finnie, vice president of IP & systems at Interoute. "Because of its superb track record, expertise, pricing structure, and reliability, TELEHOUSE was a natural choice for us."
TELEHOUSE launched a new extension of its NYIIX at 60 Hudson Street in July.
