Apr 27, 2004 : ISC Releases BIND 9.3 Beta

📅 April 27, 2004 - Internet Systems Consortium (isc.org), a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the infrastructure of the Internet, said last week that it has released a beta version of BIND 9.3, the latest version of the open source DNS software that runs on over 75 percent of the Internet's name servers. ISC said BIND 9.3 offers better support to BIND administrators and includes security features such as support for the revised DNS security protocol (DNSSEC).

According to the organization, BIND 9.3 also features improved support and control for IXFR, RRset ordering, IPv6 transport and records, and cache size. The focus of the new features, ISC said, is to provide better support and control for system and zone administrators. Other new features include server identification support, extended statistics and the ability to have servers with multiple addresses.
The organization also announced that it is offering annual support contracts for users of BIND. According to ISC, commercial support is being offered to help users deal with increasing complexity as new functionality for DNS is added around security and IPv6.

Aplus.net said a subcontractor it hired to help boost its Google search ranking was to blame for installing the hidden links.
