📅 - Telecommunications carrier MCI (mci.com) announced on Wednesday the introduction of a new on-demand application service, a managed solution that allows businesses to distribute software to end users over MCI's global IP network on an on-demand basis.
The company said the service, hosted in MCI's data centers and streamed over its application delivery platform, helps companies tackle the challenge of distributing software to multiple locations and hundreds of users, enhancing productivity and optimizing resources. "As more companies leverage the power of IP, MCI is using its global IP network in a new way to empower a host of new business capabilities," says Nancy Gofus, senior vice president of product management at MCI. "MCI's on-demand application service is bringing together the power of computing and networking to deliver the benefits of convergence to our customers." MCI said that under an on-demand, pay as you go model, companies would be able to more easily distribute software releases and patch updates, better control software licenses and track software. The company said a key advantage of the service is its extensive license compliance and usage tracking capabilities, providing businesses with valuable statistical information available through the desktop.
