📅 - Akamai Technologies (akamai.com), a provider of distributed computing solutions and services, announced on Monday that there has been increasing demand for its EdgeSuite service among South American businesses. Akamai's EdgeSuite service allows enterprises to deliver Web content and applications over its globally distributed platform comprised of over 14,000 servers deployed in more than 1,000 networks across 70 countries worldwide.
The company said that since the beginning of 2003, it has doubled its customer base in South America through its resellers. Akamai is experiencing its strongest growth in Brazil, which has the highest number of Internet users in South America. "Customer adoption for Akamai's services in the Brazilian, and the overall South American markets, demonstrates our growing international sales," says Robert Hughes, vice president of global sales and services for Akamai. New EdgeSuite customers in Brazil signed on over the last year include online retailers Americanas.com, Buscape, Magazine Luiza and Shoptime.
