Jun 29, 2004 : Via Net.Works Launches Windows Hosting

📅 June 29, 2004 - Web hosting provider Via Net.Works (vianetworks.com) announced on Tuesday that it has expanded its service portfolio with the introduction of Windows 2003-based shared Web hosting. The offerings, targeted at small and medium-sized businesses, operate seamlessly with the Microsoft desktop environment, providing Microsoft Exchange 2003 mailboxes and Microsoft Windows Sharepoint Services 2003 enhancements.

"This move to incorporate Web hosting on Microsoft Windows 2003 is a key element in our undertaking to provide our customers with a one-stop source for all their business communications needs, and provides an excellent development platform for our partners," says Rhett Williams, CEO of Via Net.Works. "Via continues to deliver new technology choices to its customers."
The company said the commercial launch of the service is expected in August 2004. Via Net.Works offers Linux-based hosting to 85,000 customers in Europe though the Amen brand (amenworld.com ), which it acquired in January for 7 million Euros.
In conjunction with the announcement, Via Net.Works said it had selected hosting automation software developer Ensim's (ensim.com) Unify solution, a multi-service delivery platform, to support the roll out of its Windows-based shared hosting services. Ensim Unify offers hosting service providers and telecom operators a common framework and a set of processes that streamline the delivery of Windows-based services.
