Jul 20, 2004 : MCI Expands New Zealand Data Center
📅 - MCI (mci.com) announced on Sunday that it had completed a major upgrade to its IP backbone infrastructure in the Asia Pacific region with the expansion of its New Zealand Internet hub. This latest investment expands MCI's portfolio of IP services in New Zealand and provides its customers with effective, economical communications solutions, while providing high service quality, reliability, or support.
Additionally, MCI is introducing a new direct high-speed STM-1/OC-3 IP network route from New Zealand to the US for its corporate business customers and Internet service providers. There are a variety of network access options, such as Frame Relay, ATM, and Ethernet, to connect customer's wide area network to the MCI global IP network. The New Zealand Internet hub upgrade also launches MCI's new burstable bandwidth solution that allows customers to predictably and cost-effectively plan for periodic or unanticipated spikes in data capacity demand. The burstable bandwidth enables customers to install a high-capacity circuit that exceeds its typical daily bandwidth usage. While customers have continuous access to the circuit's full capacity, they are only charged for higher bandwidth usage when they choose to exceed their pre-established circuit utilisation level on a sustained basis, says MCI.
