Sep 1, 2004 : Amen Offers Discount Dedicated Server

📅 September 1, 2004 - Web hosting provider Amen (amenworld.com ), a subsidiary of Via Net.Works (vianetworks.com), announced on Wednesday that it has introduced a dedicated server plan priced at £29 per month with no setup fee. The monthly fee is equivalent to just over $50 US.

The £29 per month price requires a six-month commitment. Customers can sign up for plans without commitment, but at the rate of £39 per month (approximately $60 US). Amen said the pricing puts dedicated hosting "within all budgets."
Each server includes 700 GB of monthly traffic and come equipped with the Plesk control panel, allowing customers to install over 40 open source applications, configure anti-spam modules and manage sub-domains. Customers can choose between RedHat Linux 9.0 or Fedora Core 1.0. A customer portal provides remote administration facilities including remote reboot, backup, system recovery and maintenance, site statistics and server monitoring.
"The launch of our new Web Server Packs is the result of 8 months development. We wanted to deliver the highest guarantees for quality of service, simplicity of administration and automated order processing so that we can claim the poll position of having the best quality-to-price ratio in the dedicated server market," says Dick Theunissen, president of Amenworld.
Dedicated server pricing continues to drop across the Web hosting industry. Amenworld's announcement comes on the heels of AIT announcing a $39 per month dedicated server last week.
