Nov 2, 2004 : VeriSign Releases New Secured Seal

verisign.com logo📅 - Verisign (verisign.com), a provider of Internet infrastructure services, announced on Tuesday that it has released a new VeriSign Secured Seal that allows consumers to verify e-commerce site security before conducting business online. The company says the new seal will help boost overall consumer confidence in e-commerce - especially important with the upcoming holiday shopping season.

The VeriSign Secured Seal indicates to users that a site has chosen security solutions such as Secure Sockets Layer encryption, secure payment processing, and business identity authentication, to protect sensitive customer information during online transactions. According to VeriSign, the seal also allows consumers to verify the level of security on an e-commerce site.
"The state of e-commerce is at a critical point. Either it will continue to grow as an effective sales outlet, or phishing and other malicious activity will devastate its status as a viable business channel," says Trevor Healy, vice president of payment services at VeriSign. "For companies to maintain a strong e-commerce presence, they must be able to assure customers that the personal information they submit when making online purchases is fully protected. Consumers associate the VeriSign Secured Seal with safe online shopping, and as such they recognize that companies that display this trust mark are committed to protecting their Internet transactions."
The new seal, which the company says has been completely redesigned for maximum effectiveness, is available in 13 languages on all sites offering qualifying VeriSign services. This includes VeriSign's Payflow Pro and Payflow Link gateways, in addition to VeriSign's fraud protection services and managed security services.
