📅 - Content delivery network operator Akamai Technologies (akamai.com) announced on Wednesday that Paul Sagan would be the company's new CEO, replacing current chairman and CEO George Conrades, who will become the company's executive chairman effective April 1, 2005. Sagan, currently president, will also be appointed to the board of directors, while still continuing to hold the position of president.
"We've made significant progress since our founding in 1998, developing unique technology and a global infrastructure, and then reaching profitability and positive cash flow. I'm very proud of what we've accomplished, and I'm even more excited about the opportunities ahead," says Conrades. "This is the right time to transition to the next generation of Akamai leadership. We have a great management team in place, and I join in the Board's unanimous support and confidence in Paul's ability to continue driving Akamai's growth."
