Jan 26, 2005 : Symantec Launches Email Security Device

📅 January 26, 2005 - Information security provider Symantec Corp. (symantec.com) announced on Wednesday that it is preparing to release the Symantec Mail Security 8200 Series, a secure email hardware solution for medium and large businesses.

Coupled with Symantec Brightmail AntiSpam and Symantec AntiVirus technologies, The Mail Security 8200 will provide high levels of spam and virus protection. The company says it has planned a February launch for the device, which integrates volume management, attack prevention, content filtering, encryption, anti-forgery and archiving functionality into one cohesive solution.
"Email is the single most critical channel for both internal and external business communication," says Enrique Salem, senior VP of gateway and network security at Symantec Corp. "Symantec is the only industry-leading company that can deliver best-of-breed integrated email security solutions at the network, gateway and server layers with multiple deployment options for all organizations."
Symantec says its Mail Security 8200 Series appliances feature Email Firewall, reducing the total volume of email. Its combination of SMTP connection management and attack detection helps reduce email infrastructure costs by blocking connections from dangerous servers. The device's automated and configurable connection management features are activated as soon as an incoming connection is detected.
