Mar 23, 2005 : NTT Unit Deploys Raritan IDC Switch
📅 - IT infrastructure management equipment provider Raritan Computer (raritan.com) announced on Tuesday that NTT Neomeit Chugoku, an NTT (ntt.com) unit that builds telecommunications systems and provides IT services, had selected its Paragon II keyboard, video, mouse switch to manage servers and other IT infrastructure supporting NTT's new network service management service centers. Raritan's Paragon switch provides full keyboard and mouse control of servers through direct out-of-band KVM connections, as well as over the Internet. Multiple users area able to simultaneously access servers and collaborate with each other. Raritan says the switches can also be used for monitoring and streamlining the repair and recovery processes. NTT Neomeit Chugoku has tied its systems management software to the Paragon switch, enabling nearly instant alerts of server problems. "Having remote access to equipment is critical for delivering high-availability services," says Katsuhiko Honda of NTT-ME. "Prior to adding Paragon switches, our IT staff had to leave the control room and walk to terminals inside the server room each time trouble was detected - taking up valuable time. The Paragon remote-access solution saves time and eliminates distances, enabling us to be more responsive and to deliver better service to our customers." Honda says another benefit is the simplicity with which the device can be set up, as it does not require any software installation.

📅 - NTT DOCOMO Expands Quantum Computing in Network Operations - NTT DOCOMO has put a second D-Wave-powered quantum optimization application into production, using hybrid annealing technology to tune mobile network tracking-area lists. The Japanese operator says the system cut peak location-registration signaling by 65.3% and paging traffic by 7%, with a representative optimization covering 333 base stations completed in roughly five minutes during operational network planning workflows.
The interesting part is not that another telecom company has experimented with quantum computing. DOCOMO says the results are already feeding into network planning and daily operations. That moves the discussion away from laboratory benchmarks and toward whether [...]
📅 - NTT DATA Acquires WinWire to Deepen Microsoft AI Reach - NTT DATA is acquiring Microsoft-focused consultancy WinWire, adding more than 1,000 Azure and AI specialists as global services firms race to solve a growing enterprise problem: too many AI pilots, too little production deployment, and not enough engineering talent capable of making cloud-native systems actually work at scale.
The transaction, announced Tuesday, gives NTT DATA deeper technical muscle in Microsoft's ecosystem, particularly around Azure, data engineering, cloud-native development, and the suddenly crowded category of so-called "agentic AI" - software systems designed to act with varying degrees of autonomy inside enterprise workflows.

📅 - AI Drives Workplace Convergence NTT Data Flags Execution Gap - Artificial intelligence is moving from pilot projects to core operations, according to a new report released this week by NTT DATA, based on research with Everest Group across 330 enterprises globally, which finds most companies planning to unify workplace, network and field services by 2030 but failing to act, exposing a widening execution gap right now today.
The numbers are not subtle. More than 80% of enterprises expect to collapse workplace systems, connectivity and field operations into a single operating model within five years, according to the research report by NTT Data. At the same time, most are still running fragmented environments stitched together over a decade of cloud [...]
