📅 - Content delivery network operator Akamai (akamai.com) announced on Monday that it had released Akamai Web Application Accelerator, a managed service for accelerating and optimizing the delivery of Web-based enterprise applications. Akamai Web Appliation Accelerator uses several techniques, including dynamic mapping of user requests, route optimization technology, connection optimization technology and caching technology. "In today's demand economy, users expect immediate access to information - when, where, and how they want it. As enterprise applications increase in value, performance and availability become ever more critical. Poor performance and availability impede user productivity, application use and adoption, hindering business growth," says Tom Leighton, chief scientist at Akamai. "By accelerating the delivery of Web application transactions through our secure, distributed network, Akamai enables customers to conduct more business online." The service, priced per customer application, is available immediately via Akamai's EdgeControl Management Center.
