In reaction to the most recent blackout announcements from California,Rackspace's offer enables new customers to move their California-basedservers to the company's state-of-the-art facility in Texas by April 15,2001 without paying standard setup fees, which can range from $1,000 to$60,000 depending on the number and complexity of servers. In addition,Rackspace is offering these customers free advanced monitoring toolsthroughout the summer to ensure that they know the exact status of theirservers.
With the power crisis potentially entering its most dangerous phase in thesummer months, the offer allows companies to move to a more stable datacenter quickly and seamlessly without losing control of their servers.Rackspace guarantees 24-hour set-ups on most configurations and provides allusers root access to their machines for total control. These features ensurea smooth transition for all businesses, whether they are currentlyco-locating, self- hosting or are with another managed provider.
"When our servers were down for as many as twelve hours at a time and ourprovider wouldn't tell us what was happening, we figured that the poweroutages were the problem," said Stelios Fesentzou, managing director ofLondon-based Technojobs.
