(24 September 2000) On 3 August 2000 Register.com,Inc. (an accredited registrar) filed a lawsuit (No. 00-Civ-5747(BSJ)) against Verio Inc. in the United States District Courtfor the Southern District of New York. The lawsuit concerns Verio'suse of information obtained from Register.com's Whois service.On 12 September 2000, the Court asked ICANN to submit a memorandumdescribing its position on the interpretation of the RegistrarAccreditation Agreement. ICANN has submitted an amicuscuriae memorandum in response to this request.
