Jan 3, 2006 : Exchanges Agree to Promote Connections
📅 - The London Internet Exchange (linx.net), New York Internet Exchange and Los Angeles Internet Exchange signed an agreement that will see them work together to promote connections between their members and customers, TELEHOUSE America (telehouse.com) announced recently. TELEHOUSE operates the New York (nyiix.net) and Los Angeles Internet Exchanges (laiix.net). "The agreement with TELEHOUSE allows members of LINX, LAIIX and NYIIX - as well as customers at other TELEHOUSE facilities in the USA - to take advantage of new peering opportunities and grow their global networks," says Vanessa Evans, sales and marketing manager for LINX. LINX, established in 1994, has nearly 200 members and is one of the most connected exchanges in the world, handling more than 100GB per second of traffic at peak times and providing ISPs with direct access to approximately half of the world's Internet routes. "By working together with our customers and members we can strengthen international networks, reducing costs and increasing network resilience for Internet users on both sides of the Atlantic," says Michael Vallone, head of marketing at TELEHOUSE America. "We will be exploring various ways in which we can use the relationship between LINX and TELEHOUSE to facilitate the growth of the three exchanges by providing additional value to our members."
