Feb 3, 2006 : Tucows Releases Domain Name Auction

opensrs.com logo📅 - Wholesale domain registrar Tucows (tucows.com) announced on Thursday it has released the beta version of Domain Name Auction and Parked Pages. The new services are the first two in a series of services the company hopes will generate revenue from the budding secondary market for domain names.

The services are intended to be distributed through Tucows' established channel of service providers and include tools to facilitate their channel managing and marketing.

"The secondary market for domains represents a new source of revenue for Tucows and our channel of service providers," says Elliot Noss, president and CEO of Tucows. "Our strategy is to create a suite of services specifically designed to harness the reach of our channel and give service providers the information and tools they need to take advantage of this growing business."

Domain Name Auction, a white-labeled service, enables service providers to offer new registrant prospects the ability to bid on expiring domains via links from the service provider's Web site. The first auctions are expected to start on February 13.
