Arelion Reports Multi-Terabit Deployments on Baltic Corridor
📅 - Arelion has provisioned multiple terabits of capacity on its Helsinki to Warsaw corridor, adding enterprise and wholesale customers as cloud and hosting providers seek more routing options between Nordic and Central European markets. The deployment expands commercial use of a Baltic network launched in October 2025, with resilience claims still lacking published performance measurements or customer details.
For infrastructure buyers, the useful development is another corridor to evaluate when connecting facilities or purchasing international connectivity. Additional bandwidth can support expansion, but its value as a backup depends on what happens beneath the service contract. Two [...][... Check source for end of article ...]

📅 - Arelion Survey Finds Network Trust Gap Slowing Enterprise AI - Enterprise leaders say network provider concerns are affecting AI projects and cloud migrations, even as most report confidence in their carriers. In an Arelion survey, 58% said they had delayed, reduced or added safeguards to strategic initiatives over two years. Yet only 15% expressed complete confidence that their provider could detect and resolve a serious network failure.
The apparent contradiction is the story. Asked broadly whether they trust their current provider, 93% said they largely or completely do. Asked about a serious incident, their certainty falls sharply. That gap gives cloud and connectivity buyers a more useful question than whether a supplier is considered reliable: [...]
📅 - Aisuru Botnet Now Drives One Third of DDoS Traffic, Says Arelion - Arelion says one botnet accounted for roughly a third of the distributed denial-of-service traffic crossing its backbone, as attack volumes jumped into multi-terabit territory and shorter campaigns became harder to contain. The carrier's 2026 report points to Aisuru as the main driver, exposing how compromised consumer devices are now reshaping network defense economics across global infrastructure providers.
The numbers are unusually concentrated. Aisuru generated about 33 percent of the DDoS traffic observed on Arelion's AS1299 backbone, according to the carrier, after assembling more than 500,000 compromised Internet of Things and Android-based devices. A related variant, KimWolf, had [...]
📅 - AI Workloads Drive Arelion to Expand 400G Connectivity - Arelion is upgrading its AI-focused connectivity portfolio with higher-capacity 400G Ethernet services, reflecting a growing reality inside enterprise and hyperscale infrastructure: GPU clusters and distributed AI systems increasingly depend not only on compute, but on private, low-latency transport able to survive network disruptions without slowing operations.
The networking conversation around AI still leans heavily toward chips. NVIDIA supply. GPU density. Power constraints.
Less attention lands on what happens between those expensive compute clusters.
Training large models and running distributed inference workloads increasingly requires moving enormous volumes of data between [...]
📅 - Arelion Upgrades Denmark Network For AI Traffic Surge - Arelion is expanding capacity at one of Denmark's quieter but increasingly important network hubs, upgrading its Nørre Nebel cable landing station as traffic patterns shift under the weight of AI workloads. The move comes as data center development accelerates across Jutland and Copenhagen, pulling more demand into a region already positioning itself as a northern European infrastructure corridor.
The upgrade is not a headline-grabbing build, but it sits at a point in the network where growth tends to concentrate. Cable landing stations do not scale in the same way as data centers, but when they fall behind, everything upstream feels it.
Nørre Nebel is being prepared for additional [...]
📅 - Arelion Completes 1,069km IP Transmission with Cisco 800G ZR+ Optics - Arelion has successfully completed a field test of Cisco 800G ZR+ Coherent pluggable optical modules in Cisco 8000 series routers powered by Cisco Silicon One on its long-haul route between Stockholm, Sweden, and Hamburg, Germany. IP transmission of 800 Gbps across 1,069 kilometers was shown in the study, offering more cost reductions than presently used technology.
Cisco 800G ZR+ pluggables would enable Arelion to fully exploit the port capacity of Cisco's next-generation routers while lowering CAPEX and OPEX expenses by 66% and 95%, respectively.
Cisco's 800G ZR+ coherent pluggable optical modules, which are compatible with OpenROADM and have a transmit power of +1 dBm, would simplify [...]
