Digital Realty Starts Construction of 24 MW Osaka Data Center
📅 - Digital Realty has begun construction of a 24 megawatt data center in Osaka, adding planned capacity for cloud and AI customers through its Japanese joint venture with Mitsubishi. The KIX15 facility is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2028, with air and liquid cooling designed to accommodate higher density computing at its existing campus there.
For infrastructure buyers, the immediate change is in the development pipeline. Companies planning Japanese deployments have another facility to evaluate, although workloads needing space sooner will require other arrangements. The two years before the scheduled opening also leave buyers assessing a building against hardware requirements [...][... Check source for end of article ...]

📅 - Digital Realty Plans Los Angeles Cable Landing Station for 2028 - Digital Realty plans to put a cable landing station inside its LAX12 data center in Los Angeles, bringing trans-Pacific capacity closer to carriers, platforms and colocation customers. Assured Communications will help design and build the facility, which is expected to support cables in 2028. The project could simplify interconnection, although no cable system or customer was named.
For a subsea cable operator, a landing station supplies more than a place to bring a system ashore. It needs power, space for equipment and onward connections that can carry traffic to customers. Digital Realty wants to put those functions within a campus where network providers and data center customers can [...]
📅 - Study: Infrastructure Emerges as Top Barrier to Enterprise AI Deployment - Infrastructure has emerged as the leading constraint on enterprise AI deployment as companies move from experimentation into production, according to a global survey of 2,131 IT decision makers across 19 countries. The research, commissioned by data center operator Digital Realty, points to mounting pressure around specialized compute, private cloud capacity, data placement, and low latency connectivity worldwide.
Digital Realty's 2026 Global Data Insights Survey covered eleven industries and organizations with between 500 and more than 10,000 employees. Forty percent of respondents identified insufficient specialized infrastructure as the primary barrier to AI initiatives, up sharply [...]
📅 - Digital Realty Enters Türkiye Through Rönesans Infrastructure Joint Venture - Digital Realty is entering Türkiye through a joint venture with Rönesans Infrastructure, starting with a carrier neutral Ankara campus designed for more than 22 MW of IT capacity. The move extends PlatformDIGITAL into a market linking Europe, the Middle East and Asia, while giving cloud, network and enterprise customers another regional option for infrastructure deployment and interconnection growth.
The Ankara project is the immediate test. Digital Realty and Rönesans Infrastructure say land, power and permitting have already been secured, with early construction underway and completion targeted for 2028. The facility is intended to serve national enterprises, public sector organizations [...]
📅 - Digital Realty Adds ERA-IX to Vienna Connectivity Ecosystem - ERA-IX is expanding into Vienna through Digital Realty's campus, adding another carrier-neutral internet exchange to a market already dense with network providers, cloud connections, and enterprise traffic. The move gives operators more local peering and interconnection options, while testing whether Vienna can support another exchange without fragmenting traffic or weakening the economics that make peering useful.
For network operators, the immediate change is choice. A new exchange can create additional paths for keeping traffic local, reducing reliance on paid transit, and shortening routes between networks that already have meaningful traffic volumes in Vienna. That can improve [...]
📅 - Digital Realty Expands East Africa Footprint with New Nairobi Data Center - Digital Realty has opened a 6.4 MW data center in Nairobi, expanding its campus as the company folds the iColo brand into Digital Realty across Kenya and Mozambique. The new NBO2 facility adds capacity, interconnection density and satellite connectivity in a market where cloud demand, data sovereignty requirements and regional digital services are reshaping infrastructure decisions quickly.
NBO2 sits alongside Nairobi One, turning the site into a larger campus rather than another isolated facility. For infrastructure buyers, the more relevant number may not be 6.4 MW. Digital Realty says customers at the Nairobi campus can reach more than 100 networks, two internet exchange points and a [...]
