European Web Host my.host Lands in Copenhagen with Local Office
📅 - Dutch web hosting provider My.host is expanding its European footprint by opening a physical office in Copenhagen, Denmark, to challenge a market consolidated by private equity. My.host has launched a local website and secured official .dk registrar status, with plans to deploy local server infrastructure soon to meet regional data sovereignty and latency requirements.
My.host's move targets an infrastructure sector currently dominated by large investment groups that have rolled up traditional regional providers. Infrastructure buyers across the Nordic region are facing a highly consolidated landscape, which typically triggers multi-year vendor lock-in and creeping annual renewal fees. By [...][... 📅 - Eaton Pays €810M for COL Group’s Data Center Power Gear - Eaton has agreed to buy Italy's COL Group for €810 million, adding medium-voltage switchgear and European manufacturing capacity to its data center power business. The deal addresses a less visible constraint on new facilities: electricity must be distributed safely after it reaches the site. Eaton has disclosed no increase in output or shorter delivery times for customers.
A grid connection does not make a data center ready for servers. Operators also need equipment that controls and distributes electricity through the facility, often across construction phases that cannot all wait for the final campus to be finished. COL Group makes medium-voltage distribution systems, grid automation [...]
📅 - Belgian €1 Billion Data Center Plan Tests Existing Grid Access - Switch Datacenters from the Netherlands is exploring a wholesale data center on the former Sappi paper mill site in Lanaken, Belgium, where existing high-voltage infrastructure could give the project an advantage in securing power. The proposal tests a larger question for European operators: can retired industrial sites become usable cloud capacity without lengthy grid work? The electrical entitlement remains undisclosed.
The proposed facility would occupy roughly eight hectares of a larger industrial property. Switch Datacenters would provide the buildings and supporting infrastructure, while wholesale customers would install their own servers. Its potential investment has been described [...]
📅 - Helix Gains $1 Billion From Samsung for AI Data Center Plans - Samsung Electronics and five affiliates have committed $1 billion to Helix Digital Infrastructure, adding capital and potential equipment and construction links to an AI data center platform. The money lifts Helix Digital Infrastructure's funding base above $11 billion. For hyperscale buyers, the issue is whether those partners can deliver power, cooling, buildings, and connectivity on schedule.
Helix Digital Infrastructure was launched in June with backing from KKR, Kuwait Investment Authority, NVIDIA, and Vistra. Its plan is unusually broad: develop data centers while arranging the power and network infrastructure those sites require. Samsung's arrival makes that plan more substantial. [...]
