) announced on Wednesday that St. Thomas University has signed a multi-year contract to house its infrastructure at the NAP of the Americas. St. Thomas joins other private and public colleges and universities that currently house their critical infrastructure at the NAP.

Terremark will provide St. Thomas University with secure and redundant colocation space, power and its MRS platform for Internet access. The move will also enable St. Thomas to access the Florida Lambda Rail Consortium housed at the NAP and access to Internet 2's research and education networks via the NAP.

St. Thomas' end-users will be provided with highly reliable access and higher performance experience for lower overall Internet access costs. Currently, the university has more than 3,000 students enrolled, 120 full time faculty and 26 undergraduate programs.

"We needed a highly efficient, reliable and cost-effective solution. The NAP offers all of that, plus a superior connectivity infrastructure and hosting environment," says Rev. Monsignor Franklyn M. Casale, president of St. Thomas University. "We chose the NAP because it also gives us the opportunity to access an aggregation of the world's leading research and educational institutions who are already housed at the NAP."
