Jul, 2026 : Dutch Data Center Heat Project Targets Grid Constraints

📅 July 25, 2026 - A Dutch municipality, greenhouse growers and a data center operator have agreed to develop a heat network using recovered server energy. The project aims to replace natural gas, reduce pressure on a constrained electricity grid and test whether digital infrastructure can serve regional industry. Similar schemes are attracting attention as power shortages complicate data center expansion worldwide.

The agreement brings together a municipal authority, an agricultural energy cooperative, data center developer Switch Datacenters and regional energy partners.
