📅 - London Internet Exchange has completed a major overhaul of its 17-site London interconnection network, selecting Nokia as its technical partner, the organisations said this week, as the UK's core internet infrastructure faces rising demand, ageing hardware and growing pressure to support higher-capacity traffic driven by cloud and AI workloads.
The upgrade focuses on LON2, LINX's secondary interconnection fabric, which operates alongside the primary LON1 network. Together, they form a dual-LAN architecture designed to avoid single points of failure - a principle that has defined LINX's approach for more than two decades.
