📅 - Nokia Expands AI Orchestration Tools with HPE RIC Licensing Deal - Nokia has taken a new step to strengthen its position in network automation by entering into a global licensing agreement with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). The deal will see Nokia acquire rights to HPE's RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) technology and integrate it with its own MantaRay Service Management and Orchestration (SMO) platform, which is designed to drive AI-powered automation in radio access networks.
As part of the agreement, effective October 1, 2025, much of the HPE development team working on RIC has transferred to Nokia's Mobile Networks unit. This provides Nokia not only with intellectual property but also with technical expertise to accelerate product development. [...]
📅 - 123NET Grows Southfield Data Center for AI Deployments - The enhancements include a significant 4-megawatt power extension, making it the only facility in Michigan to combine free on-site peering with high-density GPU power with liquid and air-cooled infrastructure. This allows for latency-sensitive applications and reduces network expenses by up to 70%. Businesses can implement massive GPU infrastructure for real-time AI applications and machine learning at scale thanks to data center optimization.
The data center's on-premises Detroit Internet transmission (DET-iX) switching fabric, which offers direct peering and fewer network hops for quicker data transmission, is a significant distinction.

📅 - Bifrost Subsea Cable Goes Live, Connecting Singapore and US - The Bifrost Cable System, one of the world's most ambitious subsea connectivity projects, has reached a significant milestone with the announcement that it has attained Ready for Service (RFS) status. This certification clears the way for the system to begin carrying commercial traffic in the coming weeks, opening a new high-capacity digital corridor between Southeast Asia and the United States.
Stretching more than 20,000 kilometers, Bifrost is the first subsea cable to connect Singapore to the U.S. west coast via Indonesia, traversing the Java and Celebes seas. The route is designed not only to diversify global connectivity but also to provide resilience across one of the busiest data [...]
📅 - ChillMine, AAAS Energy to Build Solar-Powered Data Center Botswana - ChillMine Corporation, a U.S.-based data center operator, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Netherlands-based AAAS Energy to jointly develop a large-scale data center campus in Botswana. The collaboration is aimed at building a next-generation facility capable of supporting AI computing, hyperscale cloud providers, and other energy-intensive computing workloads.
The planned development comes at a time when demand for reliable and scalable digital infrastructure in Southern Africa is accelerating. For global cloud and AI providers, access to stable, affordable energy sources is a central consideration, and the Botswana project is being designed with that requirement at [...]
📅 - Google Taps Atlantic Quantum to Speed Error-Corrected Computing - Google Quantum AI has brought MIT spinout Atlantic Quantum into its fold in what industry observers widely interpret as an acquisition, though Google's official announcement refrained from using the term. The move underscores the growing urgency in quantum computing to solve the scalability problem that has long stood between laboratory prototypes and practical, error-corrected quantum systems.
Atlantic Quantum, founded in 2021 by a group of MIT researchers, focused on developing superconducting qubits and pioneering a modular chip stack architecture. Its breakthrough lies in integrating qubits with superconducting control electronics within the same cold stage, a design that reduces [...]
