A 2Tb device with double the capacity of current solutions was created by SK Hynix in order to optimize the cost competitiveness of its new product. The company increased the number of planes, which are independent operation units within a chip, from four to six in order to address possible performance loss in large-capacity NAND. The performance of simultaneous reading is greatly improved and more parallel processing is made possible.
