Ciena, Aqua Comms Achieve 1.3 Tb/s Transatlantic Milestone
📅 - Ciena and Aqua Comms have achieved a significant milestone in transatlantic data transmission, announcing the successful delivery of a 1.3 Tb/s wavelength across a 5,500-kilometer route. LeveragingCienas WaveLogic 6 Extreme (WL6e) technology, the achievement highlights the potential of their fully programmable coherent technology which supports wavelength speeds of up to 1.6 Tb/s.
The companies also completed an 800 Gb/s wavelength transmission over an unregenerated 11,000-kilometer round-trip between the United States and Ireland.
