Jul 17, 2006 : GeoTrust Sees 40 Percent SSL Growth
The company says much of the growth is due to the success of the domain registration and Web hosting companies with which GeoTrust is partnered, including EV1Servers, 1&1 Internet and Register.com.
"While many hosting companies switch SSL vendors, we work diligently to maintain a loyal reseller base through industry-leading technology, broad product offerings and most importantly, highly personal relationships with our resellers," says Tom Serani, managing sales director for GeoTrust. "We have earned a reputation for progressive, flexible and competitive offerings and have been extremely successful in recruiting not only the largest ISPs and hosting companies as our customers, but smaller shops as well. People see the GeoTrust reseller program as a way to not only grow their business and revenue, but to also add value to their customers."
GeoTrust says reports from Internet researcher Netcraft (netcraft.com) show that more than 50 percent of the sites hosted by EV1Servers in the past year had SSL certificates provided by GeoTrust. During the same period, 1&1 Internet recorded growth of close to 50 percent in the number of sites hosted, and Register.com saw 100 percent growth in the number of SSL certificates it provisioned.
"GeoTrust is an established authority in Web site security," added Gregory Howard, director channel sales of Register.com (register.com 👉 Total Reviews: 5

"As the driving force behind much of the innovation of SSL certificates, GeoTrust's technology enables us to deliver highly trusted certificates to our customers that fulfill their e-commerce needs."
According to the GeoTrust, the growth of these companies, and of GeoTrust's own certificates issued is evidence of a consumer trend toward enhanced security, as Internet users become increasingly aware of the need to protect themselves online.
"GeoTrust is always innovating and upgrading its products so that we can provide more value to our customers," said Andreas Gauger, CEO of 1&1 Internet (1and1.com), one of the world's largest Web hosting providers, with the business's most significant international presence. "Creative, flexible and customizable programs and industry leading technology, such as a custom API that allow us to provide a more tailored product to our customers, set GeoTrust apart from other SSL certificate providers."
Along with the technology itself, GeoTrust customers say the company's hands-on approach to developing business with partners is a big advantage of the company's line of services.
"Our relationship with GeoTrust goes beyond the standard reseller relationship," says Jeff Lowenberg, vice president of operations for pioneering dedicated server host EV1Servers (ev1servers.com). "It is in fact a true partnership. GeoTrust takes the extra step to help us build our business by showing us how to capitalize on market trends, build and drive marketing programs and create attractive offers for our customers."
GeoTrust is currently in the due-diligence stages of being acquired by Internet security giant VeriSign (verisign.com).
