#Tata Communications Deploys Its IP Transit Service in EdgeConneX Portland Edge Data Center

📅 July 16, 2018 - Global network infrastructure provider Tata Communications has established a Point of Presence (PoP) at EdgeConneX (edgeconnex.com)'s Portland Edge Data Center (EDC). This data center PoP provides interconnection to Tata Communications' carrier-grade IP transit service.

The EdgeConneX Portland EDC data center would house a robust Internet ecosystem offering native connectivity to Amazon Web Services (AWS Cloud) Direct Connect, as well as cloud onramps to other major cloud providers such as Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud. Owned 75 percent by African nations, the $650 million deepwater cable is partly funded by nations along the east African coast.

As anchor tenant 9,320 miles on the undersea SEACOM cable system enables Tata Communications to provide fully integrated network services from South Africa, Mozambique, Tanzania and Kenya to its networks in Europe, Asia and India.
