📅 - The Certificate Authority Security Council has released new requirements for Certificate Authorities, the first standardized code signing guidelines.
Microsoft is the first company to adopt these new guidelines.
Dean J. Coclin the Senior Director of Business Development at Symantec said, “Previously, there were no standards, which meant that if one CA rejected a company's application, that company could submit the same application to a different CA. The Minimum Requirements for Code Signing will improve all CAs' ability to identify the publishers and authenticate that the code is unchanged.”

📅 - French Hosting Company Founder Target of British Spying - Founder and former CEO of the French hosting company OVH, Octave Klaba, was investigated by the GCHQ, the British spy agency. In May of 2009, the British agency intercepted satelite transmissions between Sierra Leone and Belgium. During the intercept, British agents obtained a list of email addresses and Klaba was on it.
Klaba was replaced as CEO of OVH in 2015. He is an outspoken digital privacy rights advocate and recently spoke out against recent French surveillance laws.

📅 - AutoSSL brought up by Comodo and cPanel Team to Customers - Comodo and cPanel recently announced the automation of SSL encryption integration. This was done to help address the 90% of websites not using SSL encryption. AutoSSL was quietly rolled out in November and secured 240K websites a day. A total of 5.8 million certificates were issues.
The AutoSSL feature is found in WHM and cPanel version 60 and later. It will discover and deploy Domain Validated cPanel SSL certificates to logins, endpoints on the server and websites. It will automatically renew any expired certificates, as well.

📅 - President Obama Starts Investigation into Potential Election Hacking - Recently, President Barack Obama announced he will have the U.S. Intelligence Agencies looking into the potential hacking attacks on the recent election. The report will be given to Congress, but may not be released to the public. The belief is that the hacking came from Russians.
Even though President-elect Donald Trump has scoffed at the potential of election hacking, some Democrats and Republicans are vowing to look into the role Russian has played in hacking net year. Some findings already show the Russian government was behind leaks on Democrats and some attacks.

📅 - DreamObjects from DreamHost Receives an Upgrade - DreamHost, a web hosting company, has upgraded the DreamObjects storage service they offer. The new upgrades make the service more reliable and scalable, along with giving it a performance boost.
DreamObjects is an Open Source service for cloud storage. It allows users to store many different types of files with Amazon S3 AP compatibility.
DreamHost was created in 1997. It's headquartered in Los Angeles, California and provides a large range of hosting services to a customer base of about 400K.

📅 - Flywheel Acquires Pressmatic to Expand its’ WordPress Reach - A recent announcement stated that Flywheel, a WordPress hosting and management company, has acquired Pressmatic, a local WordPress manager. The acquisition has changed the name of Pressmatic to Local by Flywheel and the served is now offered for free.
Flywheel is headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska and offers many different hosting services for designers and creative agencies. Pressmatic is a local WordPress development app used to as a manager. It allows developers to use WordPress on the OS X operating system.
