Oct, 2016 : Free SSL Certificates Gvein to WP Engine Customers

October 24, 2016 - WP Engine recently integrated SSL/TLS certificates into 50,000 customers websites. The certificates come from the Let's Encrypt project and will allow all of the company's customers to be protected by encryption.

Not only will this allow for encryption and security at a click of a button, but it will also allow WP Engine users to gain search engine ranking benefits. Customers can add certificates from the user portal to help with security, code review and scans.

Oct 21, 2016 - Google Makes Nomulus Open Source - Nomulus, Google's cloud-based registry platform for TLDs, has gone open source. Google released the code for Nomulus under the Apache 2.0 license.

Nomulus runs on the Google App Engine and is backed by Google's NoSQL Cloud Datastore. Nomulus was started in 2011.

According to Google, Nomulus manages multiple TLDs and supports all TLD functions.

Oct 21, 2016 - Dyn DDoS Attack Causes Outages, Continues to Create Problems - Friday morning, Dyn Inc., a well-known Domain Name Server, announced it was monitoring a distributed denial of service, or DDoS, attack.

Across the Eastern U.S. on Friday, Internet service had been disrupted for many people.

Dyn posted a message on it's website explaining the situation, “Some customers may experience increased DNS query latency and delayed zone propagation during this time. Our engineers are continuing to work on mitigating this issue.”
