Emil Sayegh Sees Large Opportunity in Mid-Market Enterprise Space
📅 - The new CEO of Hostway Services, Emil Sayegh believes the company can grow, specifically in the mid-market enterprise space. Sayegh has only been with the company since September, but already sees the potential. He spent about five years as the CEO and president of Codero Hosting and said that Hostway is positioned to start capturing this market.
The growth will include solutions around PCI and HIPAA compliance, which will include more apps, such as WordPress and Magento. This is a part of a larger hosting industry trend with more companies carving out a niche.

📅 - CloudCoreo Raises $2.9 Million in Seed Funding - CloudCoreo, a cloud infrastructure security and management startup, announced recently that they are focusing on locating and hiring qualified software and DevOps engineers. So far, the startup has raised $2.9 million in seed funding, as they announced on Tuesday in a press release.
With the seed funding, CloudCoreo plans to recruit top DevOps and software engineer talent to bring its full cloud stack management service to life. Madrona Venture Group, Divergent Ventures, Aristos Ventures, and the Data Collective (DCVC) participated in the funding round in Seattle. Soma Somasegar, a Madrona venture partner, will now join CloudCoreo's board of directors.

📅 - MPAA Says Cloudflare, Foreign Hosting Companies Failing to Protect Against Piracy - The MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) recently announced that foreign web hosting companies like Cloudflare are enabling pirates to violate copyright law and steal content because they do not discriminate between websites that routinely infringe on copyrights and those that do not. The MPAA wants foreign web hosting companies to help hold pirates accountable by reducing the amount of web support they can obtain while infringing on copyrights.

📅 - Transpacific Submarine Cable will be Built by Google and Facebook - Google and Facebook have created a partnership to pay for the construction of a high-capacity submarine cable system. This system will stretch across the Pacific Ocean and connects Hong Kong to Los Angeles.
Facebook has already created a partnership in the submarine cable industry with Microsoft for an Atlantic submarine cable. A big reason for this type of partnership is the need for global bandwidth. 📅 - New Amsterdam ServerHub Location Announced - ServerHub has announced it will be opening a seventh location by the end of this year. The announcement came at the same time as this week's HostingCon Europe trade show.
The recently announced second European location will be in Amsterdam and is scheduled to be live in December. ServerHub has been busy opening new locations, with a recent launch in New York and expansions in Frankfurt and Seattle.

An Associate professor at the University of Texas at Arlington, Hao Che, has been awarded $799,950 in a grant by the National Science Foundation. The grant was awarded to help Che develop his model of delivery without the over provisioning.
