Sep, 2016 : Yahoo to Reveal ‘Massive’ Data Breach


📅 - Yahoo is expected to disclose a data breach that the company is describing as “massive” this week. Recode has reported the breach as “widespread and serious,” citing anonymous sources.

This information comes after earlier reports of a cyber-attacker, using the name Peace, selling hacked information of 200 million Yahoo user accounts. The same hacker is responsible for stealing LinkedIn user data as well. The breached data includes user names, passwords, and personal user information.

Although, a sample of the hacked data was analyzed, and revealed that most of the information was obsolete. The accounts are no longer in use or have been canceled. The cost for the data is also low, priced for under $2,000 which would also suggest that the information is of little value.
