After Google and AT&T Speak, the FFC May Change Cable Box Proposal
📅 - The Federal Communications Commission may consider changes to the proposal from Chairman Tom Wheeler after hearing from AT&T and Google. The proposal would give households an alternative to the cable box. The proposal from AT&T would allow subscribers to watch TV on third-party devices conforming to industrywide standards.
Currently the FCC believes subscribers have no other choice, but to pay about $231 per year to rent a cable box. The FCC wants a new set of software and devices to help save families money.
