Net Neutrality Enforcement Defended by the FCC in Federal Court
📅 - The United States Telecom Association would like to see the net neutrality order from the FCC reversed. The case was heard in an appeals court last week and the FCC defended their position.
In February of 2015, the FCC reclassified internet services under Title II of the Communications Act. They reclassified these services as telecommunications, which means ISPs may be regulated in a similar was as telephone providers.
Telecom argued that the FCC doesn't have the authority to reclassify mobile and fixed broadband as common carrier services.

Help.com is a customer service software startup that is based out of Austin, Texas and is backed up with $6million in funding. Koston is moving to Help.com from cPanel and will be bringing 15 years of enterprise technology experience to help.com.
At cPanel, he was the former VP of Operations and helped grow the company in revenue and up to 75 employees which made it one of the leading web hosting control panel solutions in the world. From there, Koston was at CloudFlare in which he led a TLS team whose work was to manage SSL Certificates for millions of customers.

📅 - Sandvine Report Shows Netflix Dominating North American Streaming Traffic - About 70% of all downstream internet traffic is made up of streaming video and audio. According to the research done by Sandvine, Netflix is the leader when it comes to streaming traffic in North America. They account for over 37% of the traffic with YouTube the closes competitor at nearly 18%.
All of the major players in video streaming increased their share of traffic from the last report done by Sandvine. Netflix may be the leader, but Amazon Video, Hulu and YouTube have all grown, as well.
As streaming video traffic grows BitTorrent traffic continues to decline. IN 2008, BitTorrent made up about 31% of the traffic, while the new report only shows BitTorrent with about 5% of the traffic
📅 - Fidelity Bought by Fusion for $30 Million - Fidelity, a voice and data company was recently acquired by cloud service provider Fusion for $30.0 million. The deal was split with $28.5 million paid in cash and another $1.5 million given in Fusion common stock.
Fidelity is based in Beachwood, Ohio and provides cloud connectivity, voice, storage and security services, along with a data center. They have about 2,000 business clients found throughout the Midwest and the entire United States.
Fusion has set a goal of completing the integration of Fidelity into their services by the end of the second quarter of next year.
📅 - OnlyDomains Bought by CentralNic Ltd. for AUS$33 Million - CentralNic Ltd., a web hosting company recently announced the purchase of domain OnlyDomains, a domain registrar. They paid AUS$33 million or $24 million US for the acquisition.
CentralNic is located in Moorgate, London, UK and provides a number of domain services including SLDs, ccTLDs and a new batch of TLDs including .xyz, .online and .site. They also offer a range of hosting services and the company is traded on the London Stock Exchange.
This marks the second domain registrar CentralNic has acquired. They also bought Internet.bs for $7.5 million in 2014.
