Nov, 2015 : Renewable Energy Use Encouraged with Amazon Web Services
📅 - AWS Cloud, Amazon Web Services, has announced plans to build and operate a wind farm in Paulding County, Ohio in efforts to push the cause of renewable energy. The 100-megawatt farm in Ohio was contracted with EDP Renewables in plans for the fourth major renewable energy project of 2015 for AWS.
The goal is to generate over 320,000 MWh of energy annually, enough to power over 29,000 homes in the US a year, and to find ways to increase the energy efficiency of its equipment and facilities. This comes after announcing in 2014 that AWS strived to someday achieve 100% renewable energy usage for its global Cloud infrastructure footprint. By the end of 2016, they will have reached 40% of renewable energy globally. .
