📅 - Europe has given the green light to European antitrust regulators, Equiniox, who requested to be able to acquire TelecityGroup of Redwood City, California. This would make TelecityGroup the largest operators of a US data center in the European market.
The approval by the European Commission of this acquisition comes with the condition that the merger sells data centers to the cities of Frankfurt and London, as well as Amsterdam. Currently, the facilities are all operating out of London.
This merger is going to give Equinix a huge presence in new markets including Italy, Ireland, Sweden and Finland while expanding its current presence in the important markets of London, Amsterdam and Frankfurt. This acquisition will be completed in 2016. .
