EXIN Launches second exam in OpenStack Software certification program: Neutron

📅 September 8, 2015 - International exam institute EXIN launches this week a specialist exam for OpenStack Software: EXIN Specialist Certificate in OpenStack Software Neutron.

Neutron is a cloud networking controller within the OpenStack cloud computing initiative. It focuses on delivering networking as a service. This new advanced exam will focus on the specific Neutron aspects and is aimed at those who are experienced in using OpenStack technology and the ones who design or build OpenStack infrastructure.

After a successful launch of the EXIN Foundation Certificate in OpenStack Software in January this year, Neutron is the first specialist exam available at EXIN within the OpenStack certification program.

Bernd Taselaar, CEO of EXIN says: “We are very pleased to announce the availability of this new exam, which builds on the Foundation Certificate in OpenStack Software which we released earlier this year. The EXIN Specialist Certificate in OpenStack Software Neutron is the first in a series of higher level qualifications, which will enable experienced professionals to further develop their career by being able to demonstrate that they have specialist skills and knowledge related to OpenStack software.”

As it is a specialist exam, one level higher than the foundation level, understanding and know-how of the architecture, design and deployment of a scalable extensible network within an OpenStack environment is strongly advised, although there are no strict prerequisites to take part in this exam.

The specific topics that will be addressed in this exam are architecture, plug-ins and extensions, managing networks and troubleshooting methodology and tools.

Like the Foundation level certification, this exam is the first specialist certification for OpenStack Software to be offered by an independent exam institute. It was developed in close cooperation with HP. Whilst the EXIN Specialist Certificate in OpenStack Software Neutron is a true vendor-neutral qualification, HP has been serving as an important technology partner for the transmission of hands-on and up-to-date market knowledge.

In 2016 EXIN will launch certifications for OpenStack Software Swift and Cinder.
